Glow

Glow: a light emitted by or as if by a heated substance (you); warmth of emotion or passion; to emit light and heat without a flame; to shine like something intensely heated; to show emotion or elation.

We lovers of our children GLOW with an intense affection and devotion to them.  Sit for a moment (or five) and relish this very special gift.  The Glow itself is what energizes us and nourishes the emotions of our children.  We teach them their value with this Glow.

Sit with it and let it replenish you.  Notice it there, a gift from your children.  Feel it mend the worn out parts of you, ever galvanizing your reflexes for the joyous child-raising activities to come.  There will be many….

How do you make sure you are ever ready with your Glow?

  • Sabra Sasson

While I do not have children of my own (yet), I do have a niece and a nephew and I definitely feel something like what you describe when I think about them and how proud I am of them and amazed by all of their accomplishments. (and their cuteness – they are 1 and 3 years old).  Just writing this is making me feel giddy inside.  Awesome.  Thank you!

I love what you say about the Glow being what energizes us :)  I agree.  When we uncover our inner light and allow it to shine more brightly we lighten up all of those around us and we magnetize others to us.

    Glowing,
    Janelle

I feel like I GLOW all the time. Not just from hanging out with my 13 year old – which is fabulous – but from just savoring life, being Divinely connected, knowing who I am and what I’m here for.

I love what you wrote about the Glow.  Usually you only hear that from lovers about looking at each other, so it is a nice concept to think about the love from and to children.  I would love to collaborate with you as I have developed Growing Healthy Families, which sounds much akin to your work.

    • Rowena

Yes!  Let’s do collaborate!  Sounds like a great idea!

  • Andrea

Very charming concept of symbiosis, love between child and parent, energizing the parent who gives it back in love to the child.

Just reading your post made me “glow”. It’s those little moments with my son that are so special: the memory of the time he slept in my bed when he was three, then woke up, threw his arms around me and said “oh, I love you mommy”; or when he smiles and his whole face lights up; or watching him in his grade 8 graduation ceremony.

Being a parent is the hardest job I ever had. But I wouldn’t miss it for the world!

  • Pamela Parker

I love this.  I am a parent of two special needs children, so I’ve learned to have the glow even when they can’t return it any way at all.  I think that makes the Glow even brighter.

Thank you for this reminder. Whenever I am at my lowest energy level my girls would just come up to me and give me a hug for no reason. I notice the same effect just by speaking to someone who seems to be a little down. The act of greeting another person (as my Daddy would say, “Recognizing their humanity”) can be an immediate boost for them. Its amazing to see it in action. Just say good morning to the next person you see.

I love this idea, so simple, right from the heart and soul’s of our love for the children.  You are glowing too!

I love what you say about the glow replenishing you. It’s so true. at times we need a reminder to Selah ( pause and reflect). I find that your little one comes to sense this moment and allows you to replenish..albeit sometimes for not as long as I would like :)

I love your idea of being replenished the glow of affection people have for their children. I hope this message gets out to lots of stressed parents. It’s beautiful and inspiring.

That was beautiful. We can all be reminded of this each day.  I especially loved the line, “The Glow itself is what energizes us and nourishes the emotions of our children.” That’s a lovely phrase to pin on the wall of every family home.
    Cheers,
